Meseret Humanitarian Organization

Meseret Humanitarian Organization (MHO) is a women-headed non-governmental, not-for-profit charitable organization devoted to reducing vulnerability among children and women in Ethiopia. It was founded by a role model and humanitarian woman who has long served in the Ethiopia Red Cross. She has experienced first-hand humanitarian and emergency situations and responses in Ethiopia from a young age.

MHO was established as a humanitarian organization in July 2011 and has been serving the Ethiopian people, particularly the most destitute children and women, for more than a decade. MHO is one of the leading local NGOs in Ethiopia engaged in various exemplary and impactful development initiatives. Over the past 12 years, MHO has been functioning in close coordination with underprivileged communities, the government, and other agencies, especially by extending its projects to remote and backward areas.

MHO envisions to see all Ethiopian women & children inspired to prosperity. It has also a mission statement which states empowering and changing the personal, social and economic status of women and children’s of Ethiopia who live under poverty by giving them the opportunities and supports which leads to development.

The organization has been functioning in diversified thematic areas with a major focus on women and children. It includes women empowerment, re-habilitation, re-unification and re-integration of homeless mothers with children/rehabilitation shelter, youth and community capacity enhancement WASH Environmental protection, social accountability, reproductive health, Peace building and reconciliation works and human rights and democracy etc.

Although, the organization has been functioning in diversified thematic areas and implemented many impactful projects since its establishment, the project entitled “One Pack for One Child Project is among notable exemplary project at National level received the CCRDA’s national CSO best-practice award presided by the former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) Dr Mulatu Teshome.
